(Senior) Software Engineer in Geo-Search (Berlin, Germany)
Want to work on products that hundreds of millions of people around the world use? Want to solve unique, large scale, highly complex technical problems? Nokia is seeking an outstanding Software Engineer to join the Place Discovery team of Nokia Maps. Engineers on this team design, build and optimize backend services that power Nokia Maps’ search and discovery user features, personalization, recommender systems, targeting and more. The ideal candidate will have exceptional coding skills, be a self-driven and systematic worker and share a deep love for creating software products. Join us! This position is full-time and is based in Berlin (Mitte). The workplace is very international, the work language is English.
Responsibilities
- contribute production-level Java code to Nokia Maps' Search & Recommendations services
- work closely with machine learning researchers to design and implement new algorithms
- create tools for analyzing massive data sets
- work closely with operations and infrastructure to build and scale backend services
- work closely with our product and design teams
Requirements
- a degree in Computer Science/Statistics/Physics/Mathematics or equivalent
- very strong Java programming skills and a track record of making reliable software
- strong scripting skills (e.g Python and/or other)
- experience with Solr/Lucene, Hadoop, JS/HTML5 is a plus
- the position is primarily targeted at experienced professionals but exceptional junior candidates can also apply
Education Level: BSc, MSc Degree / PhD Degree
